Hello!

Welcome to A to Z Consulting where we focus on your processes, from A to Z. Nothing is more important to us than helping our clients succeed. Whether that is through focused process documentation and improvement initiatives or through facilitated knowledge sharing workshops. We are here to help you.

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Kelly, it is great to meet you. A little bit about me, I was born and raised in a small rural town outside of East Lansing, Michigan. I grew up riding four-wheelers, fishing, and camping with my family. My father owned a construction equipment rental business and my mother was a Locksmith II at Michigan State University (MSU). You can say that small town life, entrepreneurship, and an appreciation for the skilled trades workforce is core to who I am.

I graduated from MSU with a bachelor in Urban and Regional Planning. While a student at MSU I worked in the facilities department assisting project managers with estimates and AutoCAD drawings. I fell in love with facilities and was able to obtain a full time position after graduation. I have made the transition from Operations Coordinator, to Operations Supervisor, to Business Office Manager to Asset Manager and Preventive Maintenance Coordinator over the past 11 years. While not the path I had originally planned, it is one I would not trade.

I’m also a wife, mother of two amazing boys, and fur-mom to two dogs. We are an on-the-go family that loves to spend time outdoors.

How did I get into Process Consulting?

One of the many things I am grateful for is that my time in facilities has allowed me to realize so much about myself and what my passions truly are. I had the opportunity to attend my first process mapping training back in 2012. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but when I left I realized that it was just what I was missing in my understanding of how my brain works. Now that may sound cliche but it was honestly a personal awakening and has sent me on a professional path that has led me to where I am today, running my own process consulting business.

Since that initial process mapping training I have continued to attend many Association of Business Process Management Professionals (ABPMP) approved courses. I have had the opportunity to meet so many amazing process professionals at conferences such as the Network for Change and Continuous Innovation (NCCI), Michigan Association of Physical Plant Professionals (MI APPA), promapp CONNECT in Australia, and American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC). In addition I have had the chance to present in front of hundreds, if not thousands, of process and facilities professionals at these conferences. Public speaking is not something I shy away from. I enjoy talking to other passionate individuals on topics that provide clear value.

How did I get into Facility Asset Management?

Asset Management was not where I saw my career path taking me but now that I’m here, it has been one of the biggest blessings. I have been able to apply what I learned from Urban Planning to what I have learned as I supported project managers during my early years of employment. I have found that asset management and process go hand in hand, and I think that is why I find so much joy in managing a strategic asset management program.

I inherited a program that is over 15 years old, being managed in an outdated computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). I’m tasked with continuing the current program, making improvements where I can, while also preparing for a new system to come online in the next year and a half. There are days when I am diving deep into data to find out how or why an error occurred, or I could be meeting with trades staff onsite to identify, create the asset record, map, and barcode the asset or system. Each day is different and the work lends itself to work well within a process mindset, inputs work through the process to become value added outputs that directly impact the staff and students of the University.

How can I help you?

Over the past 11 plus years I have learned best practices, innovative technology solutions, and facilitation techniques that lend themselves to be utilized in every work sector. I aim to help educate employees, from front line staff to c-suite executives about the foundational knowledge needed to implement a sustainable process improvement culture. I also have experience leading process discovery sessions that take the input of all stakeholders into consideration and produce usable process documents and maps.

If you are interested in learning more about how I can help contribute to your successful process improvement journey I would love to connect with you on a consultation call.

I look forward to working with you soon!

All the best,

Kelly
